Late last evening, around dusk, the honey bee hive arrived in the orchard.
We are 'renting', you could say, the hive to be here while the orchard trees are in bloom.
I am excited to watch the bees work and see how they help our fruit produce!
It would be neat to eventually have our own hive so that we could harvest our own honey, but one thing at a time. The laying chicks arrive in less than 2 weeks!
Stay tuned for many more photos of the hive and it's residence! I am told by the beekeeper there is between 75,000-100,000 bees in there!

You'll be wanting your own hive in no time at all :-) My bees for 2 hives come April 10th. Only my second year. Last years 1 hive didn't make it in our cold cold spring. Hoping for better this year!
We done the chicken thing and now I'm hoping for bees. I can't wait to hear how it goes.
BEES!!! they are completely engrossing. looking forward to hearing about how the pollination goes.
You should definitely start your own hives!
As far as I'm concerned, you are brave to even consider it! I don't have a clue why, but I have an almost absurd fear of bees and their hives. My husband would love to do this as well, but it just isn't an option for us right now. (For which I am grateful!)
