The Zinna's

I suppose we'll be saying 'buh-bye' to the flowers soon as we're now enjoying a chill in the air.
This was my Zinna patch this year.

I love Zinna's.
These are Persian Carpet Zinna's from Bakers Creek.

They are described as a "stunning....brilliant heirloom..."

They are pretty, but I can't say they took my breath away! I was expecting BIG Zinna's. I suppose if I would have paid more attention to their description, I would have noticed they grow to about a 2" diameter. They were plentiful though, and made a nice flower patch.

I do have some seeds left over so I'll throw them somewhere next season.
Anyone have a favorite variety Zinna? Share!

Oh yes, and PS, Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary to my Hubby :) Nothing special going on! Just picking apples and picking more apples! We lead an exciting life - yes, I know! What, *thinking....* it is 3 years, right? Yes, 3 years.

I love zinnias! I made a similar mistake this year. I bought cut and come again zinnias thinking they would be larger but most of them were about 2-3 inches. Oh well small flowers are pretty too!

I enjoy zinnias but last time I planted some they took off like wildfire. This year my big accomplishment was my morning glory vine. Im so sad to see things start to go as it cools off.

I love how colorful they are--I plant rows of zinnias just to be amazed at them.
I just finished reading "The Language of Flowers" and it's eerie that you did a post on zinnias because their meaning is "I mourn your absense." Just how I'm feeling this month with Kelly's birthday approaching. Love you, XOXO
