Harvest Monday, June 28

Things are coming along in the garden. We are at the point where it isn't a complete, frenzied onset of produce so if I see something but would rather wait for a few [i.e. Cucs] I can let them hang another few days until one another is ready.

I made some wonderful Basil Pesto with the Basil I have going in the herb garden and I tried a dip with Radishes. You can see those recipes here.

For this weeks totals:

A Head of Cauliflower weighing in at 1.517 pounds!
We like to fry ours up in a pan with butter and garlic.
Some Heirloom Red Onions weighing in at 2.43 oz

And 2 Pickeling Cucs weighing in at .448 Pounds!
I'll do these up in a Fridge Pickel style recipe

And in this pic, with my harvest, are some onion tops I trimmed and used some in a stirfry. I just also realized I completely forgot to record the broccoli we harvested Saturday! But it sure was tasty in the stirfry!

BONUS Harvest! Hubby found a Wild Raspberry bush on our property! How did we not see this before???

Check out what others harvested this week over at Daphne's Dandelions!

Pretty color of those red onions. Wild raspberries look like regular ones. Do they taste differently?

vrtlarica: they probably are just a regualr raspberry; I just classified them as 'wild' since we didn't plant them. We just happened upon them growing 'wild' in the woods :)

Your onions are GORGEOUS! What a lovely, striking color. And I'm impressed with your Cauliflower. I've always had bad luck growing them...

Yes, those red onions are gorgeous. And I'll bet the sauteed cauliflower was delicious. But what I really like is photo of the raspberries in that lobster bowl! ;-)

That's a very nice head of cauliflower and beautiful green onions. I like any "wild edibles" especially fruits, is the raspberry patch far away from your garden?

Wild raspberries (or feral, as the case may be) are the best. If they make it without your help, they'll likely have delicious fruit.

That's a lot of cauliflower, lucky you!

Thanks Survivingmass!

Mac: I am bad with distance, but I would say the raspberries are an acre or so away from the garden in a brush that borders the orchard!

Glad you found some wild raspberries. That's always fantastic. And may I say, nice cauliflower!

I had only one cuke this week, but since it is the first one I've been very happy with it. Now if the rest of the plants would start to produce.

Hi Allison, I will trade you some of my grocery store leftover regrow green onions for your beautiful red ones! :)

A wild raspberry bush! What a cool find! The cauliflower looks yummy. I like to do a mashed puree with cauli that tastes almost like mashed potato but lighter!
