As I mentioned yesterday, we picked 7 cups of Raspberries from a friends house. He wasn't using them and I was anxious to make some jam with them. I have never made Raspberry Jam before. I found this recipe and was anxious to give it a try.
The berries looked so good. And as they cooked down with Sugar, they smelled DEVINE! A couple taste tests and both hubby and I were in heaven!! He even took the spoon when I was done canning the batch up. We were both eager to have some for breakfast the next morning.
But, this is what we found ! In case you can't make it out, I am holding the jar of Raspberry Jam with a fork stuck in it .... the fork is holding the jar of jam :( My conclusion is that I cooked the jam down too long and it is now, in the words of my husband, Raspberry Candy....taffy is probably more accurate! So, I had to microwave it for 15 seconds to get it to a spreadable consistency.
You live and you learn. And now I need to learn what to do with 3 eight ounce jars and 3 four ounce jars of 'Raspberry Taffy'!
I linked this post up to Tuesday Garden Party over at An Oregon Cottage!

I'll bet that tastes so much better than store-bought candy! I may just try to make that on purpose. Most candy recipes call for corn syrup or much more sugar than that.
LOL~ apparently you are not the only who made it into raspberry taffy. I read some of the reviews of that recipe. Someone else did that, too.
Raspberry sounds like yummy snack.
Sorry, but that picture is so funny! I've never seen jam do that before. But raspberry jam, Ohh! I'd take it any day! I bet the house smelled great while cooking it. Maybe it tricked you because it was hot and fluid? I'll have to remember that when I'm making my grape jam.
LOL, this made me laugh! sorry for your trouble :)
ROTFL - Golly this is so funny. It's okay to make mistakes while we're learning. Debi
Wowzas! That's some heavy duty jam! LOL! Sorry it didn't come out quite like you wanted. My favorite jam is quick and easy freezer jam. It really is super easy and comes out all the time. I haven't made plain raspberry jam but I love love love raspberry strawberry!!
I wonder why it did that! A warm raspberry jam still sounds great!
Whoops, well I guess you can just always enjoy warm raspberry jam.
Oh well, raspberry candy isn't so bad. :)
I had the same experience with Blackberry jam last year. Finally ended up throwing it all out!
Oh wow! I've never seen that before! I had no idea it could get so stiff! Oh wow.
